一年级

I've been watching a lot of variety shows lately, and 一年级 is one of the staples. Not only is it in the same time slot that 爸爸去那儿 was in, it also has 陈学冬, whom I think is really cute. I will shamelessly admit that I quite enjoy watching 小时代 with all the eyecandies.

The show is about two actor and actresses becoming first grade teachers for a few months. My goodness, these kids are in grade one and their parents sent them to boarding school. I don't think I would have the heart to do that to my kid. I remember I used to really want to go to boarding school because I thought it'd be cool to wear uniforms and be with your friends all the time. Watching these tiny children saying goodbye to their parents make me very thankful my parents never considered sending me away.

Shows with kids can never really go wrong. My dad asks me why I would watch a show that's so similar to what I do everyday, but I think that's exactly why I love it; it's almost exactly what I do everyday! I think this show proves to me that kids will be kids regardless of nationality or geographic location. Some of these kids are cute as buttons, and some are as crazy as pineapples. There's kids in the show that are so frustrating and, at least I think, are beyond help unless their own parents start stepping up. I can relate so much to what the teachers are going through. At first I was hoping the experienced teachers in the show had some good tips on management. However, so far I haven't heard anything that wasn't taught theoretically in teacher's college. What I love about the show is the acknowledgement that teachers can't solve every problem and it really highlights the frustrations we encounter. We don't go home at 3:00. We are not just singing songs with kids all day. We're not just interacting with a child, but also his parents and extended family (there totally should have been a teacher-parent relationship course available during teacher's college). Most frustrating is; if a child is "good", the parents have taught them well. If the child is "bad", the teachers have failed them.

誰家灶頭無煙火~ Be Home for Dinner

TVB is making many of their hosts act in their dramas lately, which definitely isn't bad cuz many of them has such sexy voices~!
I used to really like 敖嘉年, Pierre Ngo, cuz he has such a nice, smooth voice. I was glad he started getting popular cuz of his drama roles in Rosy Business (巾幗梟雄) and whatever followed (i actually never watched them, lol). But then he started sounding really arrogant in the news about his new found fame *sigh*

That's why, moving on.
Another TVB host with a sexy voice: 陳智燊, Jason Chan.
He's usually a host for TVB's pearl channel, so he's fluent in English~!
What's even more awesome is he grew up in Britain, so he has an English accent!
*swoons*

He got his first lead role in 誰家灶頭無煙火 Be Home for Dinner.
Another one of those half hour shows, like 同事三分親 or 畢打自己人, that's probably going to last for a few months. Not sure if this one's gonna be extended though, cuz it doesn't have as many big names as the previous long-running dramas.
One thing the producers did terribly wrong is not let the guy flaunt his sexy, English accent in his sexy voice~! (Actually, I surprisingly find his voice sexier when he speaks Chinese, haha)
He comes back from Canada (?! Why not let him be from his home country, Britain?) in the first episode and brings along a white friend.
HELLO~?! Let him talk to his white friend in his fluent, sexy (yes, I'm going to keep using this word) English!
But nooooooo, he speaks CHINESE to his poor, white friend; whose actor is forced to painstakingly memorize a Chinese script to respond to him, poor white guy.

Music Post: I Love Hong Kong

It's such a waste of emiji's super cute layout if I don't update here anymore (although i kindda messed it up already cuz everything was going off to the side on firefox... and my attempt to fix it kindda killed it)~
So, last weekend I was watching 香港萬歲: I Love HK and the theme song was, of course, crazily inserted into the movie in order to up the promotion.
I thought it was by 農夫 in the beginning, but it turns out the rap was done by 李治廷~
陸永 (of 農夫) has his own version too, and a lot of people on youtube was saying they like 陸永 version better.
Personally, if we listening to the two side by side, I like 李治廷 better cuz he sounds much softer and 舒服, like someone is having a chat with you during a leisurely dinner. 陸永's version has more power and sounds like he's about to jump the HK government, which isn't bad either.
But I prefer dinner. :)
